Well, first of all, learning a musical instrument is hard. And practicing is even harder! Why? Because kids are so busy these days: Soccer, AAP, Gymnastics, Swimming, Studying, Tutoring… And, unfortunately, kids eventually begin to view piano lessons as “just more homework,” and another task to “check off” on their list of extracurricular activities, homework, MORE homework, chores, and family obligations.
It’s no longer fun! Why!?!? What went wrong?!?!
Sadly, most piano lessons in Washington, NC and the surrounding area focus too much on tedious and boring details, and very little on creativity, performing or just simply: enjoyment.
It’s amazing what can be accomplished when you tap into a child’s natural curiosity and sense of exploration. By encouraging children to have fun and to relax at the piano, I remove the common roadblocks that prevent kids from reaching their full potential.
